PING are credited with numerous innovations that became industry standards, including perimeter weighting, custom fitting and the use of investment casting in the manufacturing of golf clubs. Ping’s insistence on adhering to strict engineering principles and tight manufacturing tolerances raised the level of product performance and quality throughout the golf industry.These V2′s are the finest, easiest to hit set of clubs I have purchased. It is amazing to me the difference Ping has made since the Rapture irons.I found enough of a difference in shot dispersion to make a change from a G10 driver to the Rapture V2. Distance with the Rapture V2 is consistenly 2-3 yards longer as well.

Ping’s Newest Anser Forged Irons Review

From the first 5 iron hit, I fell in love with the lovely Ping Anser Forged Irons. They have great feel, are very forgiving and no sacrifice of distance. I finally find an iron set that suit me well. After reding my review, I hope you could feel the same way.



Look and Feel

With multi-metal design, the irons combines an 8620 steel body, a dense tungsten sole, and machined grooves for unequaled forged-iron feel and forgiveness. The hollow-sole cavity of ping anser forged irons softens feel and positions the CG for higher-launching shots. The progressive set design offers long-iron forgiveness and short-iron control.

Performance

The Ping Anser Forged Irons carry the same name as one of the early models Karsten Solheim produced before he transitioned to the popular investment casting process. The newest version pushes the forging process to create performance benefits not previously associated with a forged club. Combining an 8620 steel body with a dense tungsten sole, the Anser offers unequaled forged-iron performance. A hollow-sole cavity enhances the Anser’s soft feel and pushes the CG low.

They have a forged “blade” with stronger lofts compared to other Ping irons. First set is blue dot, not red. 3. Both shafts are stiff flex which are suited for faster swing speeds, but the S300 is less stiff compared the Rifle 6.0s making them better for slightly slower swing speeds.

Overall, I feel the Anser Forged Irons are a great buy for those who are either already a single handicap or approaching a single handicap and looking to make the transition from their game improvement irons. Or even in itself, these irons are fantastic at what they do and for that, I rate them “Highly Recommended”.

Ping Golf Review: G15 Driver and Fairway Wood

Both the G15 Driver and Fairway Wood are all about forgiveness. That’s what it was before designed for. Maximum range, maximum accuracy, with enough forgiveness to let you have some leeway for that not so perfect swing of yours.

Ping G15 Driver

They use the weight that is saved from the crown to give the club better external sole weighting. This helps to optimize the center of gravity and create higher trajectories with lower spin on the ball. This driver is also designed with a very large face to create more ball speed and forgiveness. They also use their very own TFC 149D high balanced point shaft, which allows for a full five gram increase in the head mass without increasing the swing weight or the overall weight of the club at all. This helps to increase the moment of inertia and give the golfer a higher ball speed. The extra wide face is made to optimize the speed of the ball, and consistency across the entire hitting surface.

If there is a driver out there that can be swung consistently by both a scratch golfer and a 32 handicap, then the Ping G15 Driver is it. Most drivers are designed either for the masses, which would be the mid to high handicap golfers that slice and fade the ball or for the highly skilled golfers that break 80 on a regular basis. However, Ping has created a driver that can be played by everybody. Since this driver is available with a draw bias the fade or slice golfer can gain control without sacrificing distance, while the highly skilled player will notice a pounding moment of impact giving them the great feel they desire while gaining distance from the higher ball speed.

Ping G15 Fairway Wood

This fairway wood has an elongated head design which means the clubhead is longer from back to from to provide stability and forgiveness and increase the moment of inertia, or MOI. At address it looks great with the new alignment aid first used in the Rapture woods, which thankfully replaces the moon graphic from previous G fairways. The Ping G15 Fairway Wood also features an external sole weight pad which redistributes weight at the bottom of the clubhead and helps move the centre of gravity lower and further back in the club to provide both a high launch rate and a very low spin rate. Ping have also introduced a new low profile design with the G15 fairway woods which is not only pleasing on the eye and inspires confidence but also helps to move the centre of gravity much lower in the clubhead. The G15 Fairway wood is available with a TFC 149F or Aldila Serrano 75 Fairway shaft.

The G15’s forgiveness factor is rated as Extreme and I could not agree more. There is some workability in it to be sure but I found the G15 primarily wants to go straight. The sweet spot seemed to be most of the face (not quite but pretty close) and shots where you nailed it felt pretty much the same as those where you just missed it.Whilst this club is aimed at all golfers we feel it is ideal for mid to high handicappers as the forgiveness and trajectory are excellent.

Perhaps no other brand has had as rich a history of combining forgiveness and performance. When Karsten Soleheim introduced his innovative perimeter weighted designs, the golfing world was rocked to its core and golf club technology reached a new level. With the introduction of the Ping G2 driver in 2003, Ping made a tremendous move to improve the performance of their drivers while still satisfying players who desired a more traditional shape and feel. Now in 2007, the latest version of Ping’s all titanium driver, the G10 has been introduced to the market to sit along side its composite brother, the Rapture. Just how well does the Ping G10 rate compared to some of the other drivers on the market?

Cosmetically there is very little separating the G10 from its predecessors, the G2 and G5 drivers.

However, some major tweaks in construction and design have gone into the new G10 compared to the G5. One major area where Ping has worked to improver performance is in the club’s weight distribution. Selective areas of the club’s crown have been made with thinner material to allow Ping engineers greater discretionary weight to move down low and further back in the club. The overall effect is increased launch, lower spin, and higher moment of inertia – the trinity of golf club performance.

Additionally, Ping has also tweaked the overall geometry of the club so the face is deeper. A deeper face allows for a larger hitting area and greater ball speed on miss hits. The face of the club features variable thickness technology to maximize ball speed.

But the G10 takes it one step further by combining the design of the sole, crown, and face to provide minimal energy loss. Ping also has a draw version of the G10 which features heel biased internal weighting and a hosel moved forward in relation to the face to help promote a right to left ball flight.

To complement the G10, Ping has also released an updated shaft, the TFC 129 which was designed to fit a wide variety of players and features progressively increasing weight decreasing torque to fit players from R, S, to X flex.
